DAD
My dad was born on 1st January 1920. He was the eldest of the three sons of Mr Mohini Kumar Burmon and Mrs Saraju Bala Burmon. He was born in Jamtara (prsently in Jharkhand, India) baptised as a Christian- graduated from M.C. College, Sylhet - started as a member of the undivided Communist Part of India and started looking after the studio of his father (Burmon & Sons - presently Burmon Studion at Zindabazar), Sylhet) married my mother Pranati - A Brahmo) - left Sylhet for political reasons and came to Gauhati (presently Guwahati), Assam, India - started life as a photographer - landed in Jorhat, Assam and started selling potato chips - didn't find takers - became a laughing stock of some - came to Shillong (then in Assam - presently in Meghalaya) - started running two studios - took up a job as a teacher in Railway High School in Gauhati and then onwards to Cherrapunji Ramakrishna Mission high School where retired from in the year 1980 and got three extenstions of service and finally retired in the year 1983 -opened a studio in Cherrapunji, which used to be looked after mainly by my mother - joined me at Tura and left for Hamiltonganj, West Bengal to help my sister with her school - finally started living with me at Tura and later Sivasagar, Assam and Cooch Behar, where he died in the year 2006, December 25.
